About
Shannon Canavin - Director
A seasoned arts administrator, Shannon Canavin has been preparing and filing visa applications for performing artists for over 25 years. She founded Artist Visa Services in 2007 to address the growing need for accessible expertise navigating the increasingly complex US immigration procedures. Throughout the years, Shannon has adapted to the ever-changing demands of USCIS to present compelling evidence of artists's qualifications to perform in the US. She has secured approvals for dozens of diverse clients including Boston Early Music Festival, Handel and Haydn Society, the Library of Congress, Odyssey Opera, Boston Baroque, the Newberry Consort, Fretwork, Sequentia, to name a few.
Shannon has worked in nearly all sectors of the arts management field for Treble Chorus of New England, Early Music America, Boston Early Music Festival, and is currently Development Manager, Events at Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. A professional singer for three decades, she holds degrees in voice and theory from New England Conservatory and early music performance practices from Case Western Reserve University. She performed with Apollo's Fire, Newport Baroque, Arcadia Players, Amphion’s Lyre, the Choir of the Church of the Advent, the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, and the Connecticut Early Music Festival. From 2003 to 2018 Shannon was director of the period vocal ensemble Exsultemus, which she founded to explore remarkable but seldom-performed Renaissance and Baroque vocal works.
